Would you have thought that a tricycle could run on something other than fuel?. Well I haven't neither has the indians , lol ( just kidding ). To my suprise the name Ekomobong Finbarr popped up.
        An undergraduate who happens to be in his final year at the Federal University Of Technology , Owerri , Nigeria studying Electrical/Electronics Engineering.
        The tricycle a.k.a Keke Napep which happens to be he's final year project has no engine and it's outfitted with a battery and a solar panel on the roof . This super tricycle boasts of a travel distance of 11km without recharge .
          Finally someone is putting the hot nigerian sun to good use **winks**.

New Gorilla Glass Smartphone Screens Promise To Be Stronger Than Ever

Imagine this: It’s late, you’re tired. You reach for your phone in your pocket. You go to grab it and before you realize it, your grip has loosened and your precious cargo is on the ground ― facedown.

That next moment, before you turn it over to assess the damage, is terrifying. Is it shattered? Have I broken it? Have I just ruined everything?

Well, the glassmaker behind Gorilla Glass is about to make those moments a lot less scary.

Corning, the company behind the chemically strengthened glass known as Gorilla Glass that’s used in personal electronic devices the world over, has just rolled out a new version of its glorious product, according to The Verge.

The latest iteration, Gorilla Glass 5, was specifically engineered to withstand falls onto rough surfaces from waist height or shoulder height (shoulder height being most significant, because selfies!!).

“With many real-world drops occurring from between waist and shoulder height, we knew improving drop performance would be an important and necessary advancement,” said John Bayne, vice president and general manager of Corning Gorilla Glass, in a press release.

The part about the rough surfaces is crucial. Corning did internal research and found that uneven, rough or sharp surfaces are particularly brutal for delicate smartphones. Anyone who has ever dropped their phone in the street can surely attest to this.

Gorilla Glass 5 supposedly survives up to 80 percent of the time when dropped from 1.6 meters, or about 5 feet 3 inches. By contrast, Gorilla Glass 4 could only survive being dropped from a height of about 1 meter, or about 3 feet 3 inches.

However, it should be noted that Corning’s 80 percent survival rate was achieved with glass that was 0.6 millimeters thick. Many companies use significantly thinner glass in their phones ― as thin as 0.4mm.

Facebook plans to open Messenger to publishers later this year

Facebook's big plans for Messenger may also include publishers.The company plans to open up its messaging platform to developers later this year during its F8 developer conference, according to a new report in Marketing Land. The feature will allow publishers to share content through Messenger via chat bots, with short descriptions linking back to articles on their website, the report says.

Scientists are developing robots that recognise human emotions by monitoring people's movements.
Computer programmers have found a way to code machines so that they can read a human's boredom by measuring how often they fidget.
These findings could pave the way for "empathic" robots or online teachers that can tell when a pupil is not paying attention, say scientists.
Researchers showed that boredom levels can be assessed by measuring "non-instrumental" small body movements - in other words, fidgeting.
When people are thoroughly absorbed in what they are watching or doing, they tend to fidget less.
Lead scientist Dr Harry Witchel, from Brighton and Sussex Medical School, said: "Our study showed that when someone is really highly engaged in what they're doing, they suppress these tiny involuntary movements.

Instagram launches a new 1-second video looping app ‘Boomerang’ to take on Vine

On Thursday, Instagram unveiled its third standalone app, “Boomerang.”
A mixture between Vine and Photo, the new app lets you quickly and easily create a 1-second video that loops together 5 burst photos, playing them back and then reversing them for the “Boomerang” effect.
The app automatically saves the 1-second GIFs as a video on your camera roll, and the interface is simple and uncluttered — porting you directly to the camera screen upon opening up the app. When you’ve finished shooting a video with Boomerang, you can then share it directly to Instagram of Facebook, which is the only place your friends will see it as the app doesn’t include its own dedicated news feed.

TECH NEWS - Dreams Come True As An Indian Invents A Machine That Converts AIR TO WATER

The answer to Bengaluru's water crisis, it seems, is blowing in the wind. Researchers at the city-based Scalene Energy Research Institute (SERI) have developed a Rain Tunnel - a technology that harnesses water vapour in the air and converts it into drinking water.

Available for domestic as well as commercial use once production begins next month, the former is capable of producing 30 litres of clean, filtered, drinking water within 24 hours. The commercial setup will produce a 1,000 litres in the same period of time. A plug-and-use model for domestic use will cost Rs 50-55,000.
Work on the Rain Tunnel began four years ago at SERI, a 24-year-old organisation that does research in healthcare; energy; water and food. The technology was also patented about one and a half years ago.
